Oracle Singapore launched its Valued Added Distributor (VAD) Remarketer Program in the country with ECS Computers Asia Pte Ltd in February this year.
The Oracle VAD Remarketer Program enables ECS Computers (Asia) Pte Ltd., an Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) member, to resell Oracle technology products through its network of resellers throughout Singapore, without requiring ECS’ resellers to join the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN).
Explaining the strategy here, Eugene Gopalan, General Manager, Technology Channels, Alliances and Channels, Oracle ASEAN & South Asia Growth Economies, shares that under the VAD Remarketer Program, it is easier for ECS’ resellers to start selling Oracle products and extend the Oracle portfolio to their mid-sized customers without having to make up-front financial investments to build an Oracle practice, or join the OPN and pay the typical requirement of upfront fees and contracts with Oracle. In addition, Resellers/Remarketers are able to leverage ECS Computers for support, training and other reseller services.
He elaborates that VAD Remarketer Program offers companies a competitive advantage and a unique ability to open new markets and sales opportunities without enrolling in the Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN). “The Oracle Remarketer Program is an entry-level opportunity for resellers to provide Oracle Technology Products as part of their offerings and the first step for companies who wish to start a business relationship with Oracle. Resellers who are keen to upscale their business from selling Standard Edition versions of the products can consider membership in the Oracle PartnerNetwork,” Gopalan adds.
The major goal is to facilitate the sale of Oracle products to mid-sized customers. “By creating a new class of partners called “Remarketers,” Oracle is making it easier for them to do business with Oracle. The Remarketers can transact Oracle business on day one without any upfront fees or investments in securing certification. And, as the Remarketer’s business grows with Oracle, they will be able to join the various levels of Oracle PartnerNetwork (OPN) membership to leverage on all the corresponding benefits available to them,” he says.
The Remarketer program is designed for any company currently not engaged with Oracle but who wishes to resell Oracle’s 1-CLICK ORDERING products. Oracle 1-CLICK ORDERING is a streamlined order booking process that moves Oracle License and Services Agreement (OLSA) acceptance from order booking to order fulfilment. The customer chooses the order fulfilment method at the time of purchase.
Orders placed through Oracle1-CLICK ORDERING can be fulfilled by either
- Downloading the product from the 1-CLICK ORDERING eDelivery website or
- Receiving a physically shipped 1-CLICK ORDERING Media Kit, to which the end customer accepts the OLSA by breaking an OLSA acceptance sticker sealing the box containing the Oracle product DVDs, user documentation and a CD containing the OLSA.
According to Gopalan, Oracle 1-CLICK ORDERING simplifies the OLSA acceptance process and reduces order processing time to two days or less. He adds that the Program enables a new class of Remarketers to resell Oracle’s 1-CLICK Ordering products with no initial investment. Remarketer Authorized VADs can also grow their Oracle business more profitably by immediately increasing the number of Remarketers or VARs able to resell Oracle’s 1-CLICK Ordering products.
Just how is awareness of the new Program in Singapore being driven? ECS, with guidance and support from Oracle, will hold product training sessions, discussion forums and package product bundles as part of the value added services to its resellers.
The Oracle VAD Remarketer Program is a global program. Launched in Asia Pacific in July 2008, the program has also been rolled out in Australia, India, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Gopalan emphasizes that Oracle, as part of its continuing efforts, will continue to launch new initiatives with and through platform partners to support the Remarketers. Resellers can look forward to online forums where more information on products and services from Oracle can be found.
The VAD Remarketer Program supports the following products at the moment:
- Oracle Database Standard Edition, Standard Edition One and Personal Edition
- Oracle Application Server Standard Edition and Standard Edition One
- Oracle Business Intelligence Standard Edition One
- Oracle Weblogic Server Standard Edition
- Oracle Universal Content Management Standard Edition
- Oracle Document Capture
- Oracle Internet Developer Suite
