Vietnam and Japan have affirmed their determination to implement the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (VJEPA).
In the third meeting of the Vietnam-Japan Co-operation Committee in Tokyo this month, ministerial and sectoral representatives of the two countries discussed measures to strengthen bilateral co-operation in trade and investment against the backdrop of the global economic crisis.
Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Khiem thanked the Japanese Government for another increase in official development assistance last financial year, valued at US$1.6 billion, despite economic difficulties suffered by Japan during the crisis.
Khiem suggested the Japanese Government actively participate in large infrastructure development projects in Vietnam such as the North-South High-speed Railway and the Hoa Lac High-tech Park.
Established in November 2006, the Vietnam-Japan Co-operation Committee is a forum in which the two countries can discuss co-operative activities across all sectors.
