Virtualization – the number 3 overall technology priority for Asian CIOs according to the 2009 Gartner CIO Agenda research. It reduces costs and complexity in servers and storage. It’s a no-brainer to sell and it’s a no-brainer for IT to justify.
The Problem: From an Asian business executive perspective “virtualization”, “unified communications”, “cloud” and the other techno-buzz words have no meaning.
At Gartner we have the opportunity of having vendors and channel partners present to us as though we were business buyers of their solutions. I have sat through more than 20 of these in Asia in the last year and if I had been a business executive I would not have endured beyond the second slide in most cases – too much jargon, not enough relevance, not enough proof points of the solution’s impact on my business.
