Held at Marina Bay Sands Singapore from 18-21 June, CommunicAsia2013 and EnterpriseIT2013, together with BroadcastAsia2013, will have a special emphasis on the current developments and insights across the entire ICT and media value chains, bringing together over 2,000 exhibitors from around the world. As the premier launch pad that consistently attracts the world’s leading companies to showcase the latest game-changing technologies, two international leaders in their respective areas of expertise, Akamai Technologies and Technicolor, provided, at a media briefing today, a preview of their cutting-edge technologies that will be showcased at CommunicAsia2013 and EnterpriseIT2013.

Mr. Randall Wood, Head of Digital Media (ASEAN), Akamai Technologies, the leading cloud platform for enterprises, demonstrated Akamai's hyperconnected living second-screen concept demo which showcases an advanced multi-screen technology. Akamai’s technology helps enterprises accelerate innovation in the hyperconnected world, focusing on the four big mega trends disrupting technology, namely mobile, cloud, media and security.

Mr. Georges Laplanche, Senior Vice-President Connected Home APAC from Technicolor, a worldwide technology leader in the media and entertainment sector, showcased intelligent home networks created by interconnecting devices and applications across various brands to deliver smart home, entertainment, communication and personal media services, facilitated by Technicolor’s Qeo M2M solution. According to him the need for M2M solutions increases in a fast-growing connected world, especially since users want to enjoy their favorite applications and services on all devices. Thus, the company’s new Qeo solution enables devices to speak the same language, be interconnected with each other, and create totally new use cases for the Connected Life and the ‘Internet of things’.”

Specialized tech-zones

Exhibitors at ComunicAsia2013 will feature ground-breaking technologies, products and solutions that are relevant to the evolving technology trends in the industry including LTE/4G, mobile apps and augmented reality, IPTV, mobile broadband, NFC and mCommerce, OTT, satellite communications, smartphones and devices and more. EnterpriseIT2013 will showcase the latest technology developments in business analytics, cloud services and security, eGovernment, enterprise mobility, M2M and more. Three new techzones – ‘Smart Enterprise’, ‘APPSmart’, and ‘NextGen Connected Services’ - were created to encompass the latest industry breakthrough technologies and solutions.

Besides that there will be 21 international group pavilions and a bundle of new products and technologies will be unveiled, including Huawei’s launch of the world’s largest smartphone at 6.1 inch, the Huawei Ascend Mate or RugGear will host the worldwide launch of its SWIFT II, APEX and iSafe Innovation 2.0 range of rugged 3G Android-powered and safe smartphones.

New format for conferences

For the first time, delegates from both the CommunicAsia2013 Summit and BroadcastAsia2013 International Conference will be participating in a two-part visionary address on 19 June 2013.

The first is the Governmental Visionary Address by the Minister for Technology, State Government of Victoria, Australia, The Hon. Gordon Rich-Phillips, followed by the Industry Visionary Address by Mr. Karim Temsamani, Head of Asia Pacific, Google.

Titled “ICT enabled Government – a new approach to buying and using ICT from Victoria, Australia”, the Governmental Visionary Address will discuss how the Victorian Government, through its recently released ICT Strategy, sets out on its roadmap to deliver better services, reduce waste, encourage innovation and improve ICT procurement across government. This will also highlight the intention of the strategy to help align processes across departments and set clear lines of governance, accountability and direction.

The Industry Visionary Address will highlight how the Asian consumer is pushing the world’s Internet to new directions. Over the next few years, Asia can expect to see millions of new mobile Internet users enter this booming market. These new consumers will approach the Internet with different needs and expectations, compared to their Western counterparts 10 years ago.

Discussions on technological convergence challenges ahead

As the link between broadcast technologies and telecom technologies gets stronger, the joint ‘Thought-Leaders Panel’ discussions have been conceptualized. Further, the refreshed CommunicAsia2013 Summit will have eight key tracks – each track kicks off with a panel discussion – and two interactive workshops. Since consumers have rapidly become the game-changers in the industry, with their accelerated demand for mobile data and services, the four-day programme will highlight the importance of understanding the customer so that businesses can be prepared to deliver a superior experience.

The BroadcastAsia2013 International Conference progresses to the next level with four new tracks, four specialised sessions and for the first time, a half day workshop.
