MediaBUZZ’s Half Day Expert Forum on Data Loss Prevention: Protecting the Information Centric Community

Companies nowadays are more global, virtual and dependent on dynamic information access. By nature, digital information is in constant motion throughout its lifecycle, often leaving the secured network perimeter via laptops, PDAs, email, USBs and backup tapes. Data theft, piracy and malicious employees put IP at risk everyday. However, danger is not just lurking on the outside – many don’t realize that the greatest threat to their data and IP comes from the most reliable staff members. Accidents and seemingly trivial errors are causing more IP loss than malicious hackers or even angry employees. In this shifting landscape, the battlefront in security is rapidly changing from securing the perimeter to protecting the information itself.

During this Forum, we will try to answer the following questions:

  • Is Data Loss Prevention critical to your organization from a business perspective, a regulatory perspective, or both?
  • How do you define and deliver data loss prevention to your business?
  • What security, monitoring and privacy models are best for your business?

The popular label for data loss prevention is appearing on a puzzling variety of security products, adding to the confusion and hype.” Just how true is this statement? Where should DLP be deployed, on the network or the endpoint? Does this make a huge difference to organizations?
