LisbonEffectivinessLisbon Effectiveness International Advertising Festival announces the winners of this 1st Edition, one of the spin-offs of the already known Lisbon International Advertising Festival.

This festival was created with the purpose to award the campaigns based on its effectiveness, throughout the world. With a recognized internationally jury, this festival distinguishes not only the creativity, but also the strategic decisions behind the campaign.

Energy BBDO was one of the agencies awarded with a Grand Prix. MullenLowe took home two golds, one silver and one Grand Prix. Some of the agencies awarded were R/GA, FCB Lisboa, Mercedes-Benz Portugal and United Creative. These agencies will also have the chance to receive their awards on the Lisbon International Advertising Festival, on the 20th of September, in Lisbon.

Alisha FernandoIn the spirit of building a workplace culture around the globe that values difference, fosters inclusion and promotes collaboration, Bloomberg has added a talented regional leader to its global Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) team: Alisha Fernando, the company’s new Head of Diversity and Inclusion, APAC.

Based in Hong Kong, Alisha is responsible for driving Bloomberg’s D&I strategy across the region. Prior to joining Bloomberg, Alisha led the development and implantation of the D&I strategy, programs and initiatives at the University of Melbourne. She previously spent most of her career at the Australian and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ), where she served as the firm’s Inclusion Program Manager. Under her leadership, ANZ won the 2017 business inclusion award from the Migration Council of Australia for its refugee work placement program, and the LGBTI+ employer of the year award from Pride in Diversity.

Alisha’s passion for D&I stems from her personal experiences – her family fled Vietnam in 1982 and was rescued by a Dutch ship in the South China Sea. The ship brought Alisha and her family to Malaysia, where they received refugee status and were granted safe haven to Australia. She has since dedicated her career to advocating for under-represented groups.

In 2018, Alisha was identified as the State of Victoria’s top female emerging talent and was awarded a full scholarship to the Victorian Government’s Joan Kirner Young and Emerging Women’s Leaders Program. This program enables up-and-coming female leaders to obtain the critical skills, networks and experiences required for advancement, empowering them to progress as influential leaders in their communities, sectors and areas of interest.

Tim LindsayAfter almost ten years as Chairman of D&AD, Dick Powell has decided to step down from the role in September: current CEO Tim Lindsay will take his place.

In addition to his term as Chairman, Powell’s unique contribution to D&AD includes twice serving as President and being a recipient of the President’s Award.

The past decade has seen significant change at the charity. Its industry-leading awards has grown into a truly global celebration of creativity, while the D&AD Festival will this year welcome 3,000 attendees to London’s Truman Brewery from 21-23 May.
