CommunicAsia2014The region’s most established ICT, broadcast and digital media trade events, CommunicAsia2014, EnterpriseIT2014 and BroadcastAsia2014, opened this week at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, with close to 2,000 exhibitors from more than 50 countries. The four day event occupies all five levels of the convention centre and welcomes a huge number of attendees from around the world to visit the exhibitions, conferences and meetings.

“We are proud to present the most current showcase of mobility and connectivity solutions at the shows this year as well as a platform for visitors from various industries to network and create opportunities for technological advancements in the fields of ICT, broadcast and digital media,” said Mr. Stephen Tan, Chief Executive of show organiser, Singapore Exhibition Services.

And indeed the trade fair showcases a myriad of enabling technologies, innovations and products, nicely packaged in newly launched concepts:

NXT Cities, NXT Enterprises and NXT Connected Services

In order to address the multitude of innovative technologies, the challenges and opportunities in building truly connected cities, CommunicAsia2014 and EnterpriseIT2014 introduced three new thematic clusters - NXT Cities, NXT Enterprises and NXT Connected Services that expose visitors to a host of innovations and emerging technologies that will shape the future of our world.

With a strong push from various government bodies across the globe to develop smart eco-systems, the new additions provide a comprehensive showcase of connected services that enable cities, governments, enterprises, people and machines to seamlessly connect with one another.

A “Smart Home”, “Smart Office” and “Smart Car” showcased within NXT Cities, offers a glimpse of smart technology at work, featuring a fully automated and driverless vehicle, a mobile health diagnostic kit, mobile payment sticker technology and more.

Other technologies in the spotlight at the NXT clusters include:

  • NXT Cities: Big data and analytics software, cloud services, Internet of Things (IoT), machine-to-machine (M2M), sensor networks/sensing technology, security and ID recognition technology and wireless network.
  • NXT Enterprises: Enterprise mobility, Bring Your Own Devices (BYOD), business analytics, mobile devices content management, enterprise social networking tools, mobile security and cloud.
  • NXT Connected Services: Wireless technologies, over-the-top (OTT), content delivery network, multi-screen technology and M2M.
  • Studio NXT features exhibitors presenting exciting product and solution demonstrations, and insightful previews on smart home concepts, IoT applications and more – all related to the NXT Clusters.

Technology Tours and Learning/Networking Platform

For the first time, technology tours provided visitors with further depth into technologies that are trending in the current ICT and broadcast marketplaces. The tours are organised according to three themes – OTT / Content Delivery Network, NXT Cities / NXT Enterprises, and 4K. Separately, the Satellite Interference Reduction Group (SIRG) hosted Carrier ID (CID) Tours at CommunicAsia and EnterpriseIT to demonstrate the CID process’s three main stages which are Transmission, Detection and Resolution.

In addition, more than 300 speakers, industry leaders and decision makers, shared their knowledge and insights and provided in-depth discussions on the challenges, demands and opportunities faced by the ICT, broadcast and digital media community at the gathering of the CommunicAsia2014 Summit, BroadcastAsia2014 International Conference and the Creative Content Production Conference

CommunicAsia2014 Summit featured seven new tracks addressing the latest trends and challenges in Big Data and IoT, BYOD/CYOD, Mobile Banking, Payments and Wallets and more. Additional topics and sessions, such as ‘Digital and Social Disruptions’, ‘Defining the Future of Advertising in a Mobile World’ and ‘Satellite Mobility Solutions to Drive Market Growth’ have been created to address the growing trend in mobility and connectivity. And new business models that will address viewers’ demand for the highest quality content on-the-go have been discussed intensively at the BroadcastAsia2014 International Conference and Creative Content Production Conferences.

Highly recognised and supported by prominent public and private organisations around the world, there is no doubt that CommunicAsia, EnterpriseIT and BroadcastAsia together will continue to provide an effective international networking platform for industry professionals in Asia to grow and stay abreast of latest industry developments.

With an estimated $19 trillion market opportunity, Internet of Things (IoT) is in our opinion the stand out buzzword of the year with its unlimited opportunities or companies to grow and diversify revenues, making it the topic of MediaBUZZ’s next 8byEight event.
